Kerri Lay hails from Austin, Texas, and has called New Mexico her home since 1986. She is a long-standing member of the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, the New Mexico Philharmonic, and Santa Fe Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra. Also included in her roster of orchestras, Ms. Lay performs with the Santa Fe Symphony, Santa Fe Concert Association, and Canticum Novum Chamber Orchestra.
Through her love of chamber music she has been a featured soloist and chamber musician with a variety of wonderful smaller ensembles throughout the state including Serenata of Santa Fe, the Placitas Artist Series, Santa Fe New Music Ensemble, the Taos Chamber Music Group, and will soon join the highly acclaimed Sunday concert series, the Church of Beethoven. She also serves as the principal Violinist for the St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral Basilica in Santa Fe.
Ms. Lay received her musical training at the University of Texas at Austin and Indiana University where she studied with reknowned Violinists; Stephen Clapp, Leonard Posner and James Buswell stemming from the musical lineage of Ysaye, Persinger, and Galamian.
In addition to her orchestral and chamber music life, she also is an instructor and has taught Violin Performance at New Mexico Highlands University, the Armand Hammer United World College and the Santa Fe Waldorf School. Ms. Lay works with Santa Fe area young musicians through Champs; a youth chamber music program through Santa Fe Pro Musica, as well as having a studio for private Violin and Viola students at her home in Santa Fe.
