This optional fifth concert will include a short awards ceremony, and then the winners of this impressive new contest will be featured in recital. The NMPhil Protégé Series returns, this time presenting gifted young cellist and Juilliard School freshman Edward Pogossian. Oriol Sans conducts a wondrous afternoon of music, including Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C and his stunning Symphony No. 49, “La passione.” Also, youthful prodigy Felix Mendelssohn’s lyrical Sinfonia in d minor.
