Join the NMPhil for an evening of power and contrast. First, Felix Mendelssohn’s evocative The Hebrides Overture transports listeners to the picturesque islands of Scotland. Next, Julian Schwarz performs Dmitri Shostakovich’s poignant First Cello Concerto, written for Mstislav Rostropovich. The program concludes with Johannes Brahms’s masterful Symphony No. 3, a work from the height of his career.
