Immanuel Presbyterian Church / 114 Carlisle Blvd SE / Albuquerque NM 87106
These concerts aim to inform and delight children and families by providing an illuminating behind-the-scenes look at both the classical music tradition and the orchestra. Led by Music Director Roberto Minczuk, Power Concerts take the audience on a guided tour through topics such as the building blocks of music, interesting stories and anecdotes from music history, as well as introducing them to the various instruments of the orchestra. Each concert will highlight one composer or more and focus on an instrument or family of instruments. By making these concerts affordable, it is the NMPhil’s hope that it can reach as many young people and their families as possible, introducing a new generation to the wonders of classical music.
For many children, this will be their first experience hearing a symphony orchestra—and to experience it with a world-class philharmonic is sure to leave an indelible mark we hope will translate into lifelong devotees—and future patrons—of the arts. Combined with the presence of our fabulous Music Director, Roberto Minczuk, children and families will be guided through the orchestra and music by an expert in their field. This type of concert that brings us closer together through entertainment, education and family bonding.
