Johann Sebastian Bach composed more than 200 cantatas, many written on a weekly basis for the Lutheran services he directed in Leipzig. This delightful spring program reveals the remarkable breadth of his artistry, from the timeless beauty of the Air on the G String and the brilliance of his Fourth Orchestral Suite to two contrasting cantatas: the virtuosic Cantata No. 51 and the charming, lighthearted “Coffee Cantata,” one of Bach’s most entertaining secular works.
