Mendelssohn Goes to Scotland
Sunday, April 27, 2025 / 2 p.m.
Chelsea Gallo conductor
Mendelssohn Symphony No. 3, “Scottish”
Although he was inspired to write his third symphony by a trip to Scotland in 1829, Felix Mendelssohn did not complete the work for another fourteen years. (The same trip also inspired his Hebrides Overture.) Still, audiences over the years would agree that it was worth the wait. Hear this great symphony with New York Philharmonic cover conductor Chelsea Gallo leading your NMPhil!
