Stefanie Przybylska, bassoon
Stefanie Przybylska is the principal bassoonist with the NM Philharmonic and the Santa Fe Symphony orchestras. She recently appeared as a featured soloist with the NM Symphony and the Santa Fe Symphony in works by Mozart and John Williams. Before moving to New Mexico, Stefanie was active as a freelance musician in Chicago where she performed frequently with the Chicago Symphony both in the US and on tour.
While still an undergraduate student at the Juilliard School in New York City she was selected by national audition to participate at the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont, under whose auspices she has both toured and recorded. Closer to home she has performed with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Placitas Artist Series and at the Church of Beethoven in Albuquerque and was a founding member of the Bosque Bassoon Band, a group dedicated to performing chamber music informally at schools, hospitals and growers markets.
In addition to these activities Stefanie enjoys teaching both her bassoon students and coaching her woodwind chamber music students for the Albuquerque Youth Symphony program. Along with her labrador retriever, Rio, she is active as a member of the Southwest Canine Corps of Volunteers, a pet therapy group which serves hospitals and libraries throughout the Albuquerque area.
