Cleveland Chandler

Cleveland Chandler, Jr. is originally from Baltimore Maryland and he served as violinist in the United States Air Force Strolling Strings for 24 years. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Peabody Conservatory and a Master’s degree from The Cleveland Institute of Music. His primary teachers were Shirley Givens and Linda Cerone. Cleveland has taught violin for several years at the Ottley Music School, the Baltimore School for the Arts TWIGS Program and the Washington Conservatory of Music. He also teaches privately. Cleveland continues to be in demand as a soloist and chamber musician. He has studied chamber music with the Emerson & Juilliard String Quartets. Also, he has performed at the Aspen Music Festival, the National Orchestral Institute, Spoleto Music Festival and Pacific Music Festival. Cleveland has performed with the National Philharmonic, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, the Apollo Orchestra as well as many other distinguished musical organizations. Cleveland continues to perform regularly with the Gateways Festival Orchestra and has been featured in ensembles at Carnegie Hall, the Music Center at Strathmore, the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and many other notable venues.
Recently, he has been selected as violinist in the New Mexico Philharmonic. Cleveland loves this area of the country and looks forward to learning more about New Mexico.
