David Tall
bass trombone
David Tall is the bass trombonist with the New Mexico Philharmonic. He has also been the bass trombonist with the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus since 1990. He was previously a freelance bass trombonist in Chicago, and before that, bass trombonist with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with the Chicago Symphony, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Antonio Symphony, and Baltimore Symphony, among many others.
In 1995, Dave Tall and his New Mexico Symphony colleagues presented a master class on the orchestral low brass section, playing at the International Trombone Festival. In 1999, he again performed at the International Trombone Festival, this time as a member of the Skyline Brass. In addition to his mentors, Charles Vernon and Edward Kleinhammer, Dave studied with Robert Streckfuss, Jay Hildebrandt, Frank Crisafulli, and Arnold Jacobs. He is a clinician for the Edwards/Getzen Instrument Company and teaches privately in Albuquerque.
In his spare time, Dave enjoys reading, film, futzing with computers, and poker.
