Julanie Collier Lee

Julanie Collier Lee began playing the violin at the age of 5 in Lexington, Kentucky. She received a B. A. in music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Lee moved to Albuquerque in 1989 to join the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra (now New Mexico Philharmonic) and the Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque. Before moving to New Mexico, Lee had contracts with the Cheyenne Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, Richmond (Indiana) Symphony, and the Lexington (Kentucky) Philharmonic. Summer festivals include the National Repertory Orchestra, Music at Penn’s Woods, and Epcot Center’s All-American College Orchestra. She has been a private teacher and enjoys playing chamber music.
Lee is active in her church and the community. She regularly leads a women’s Bible study and plays weekly in the church orchestra. She has served on numerous Boards of Directors, committees, and booster clubs, including the Hoffmantown Church Women’s Council, USTA Northern New Mexico, La Cueva Boys and Girls Booster Clubs, Albuquerque Youth Symphony, and NMPhil Players Association, and served as Union Steward for Local 618. She and her husband have three grown children.
