Julian Kley

Production Manager

Julian Kley has been the New Mexico Philharmonic’s production manager since March 2025. He grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he discovered a passion for playing in bands and orchestras during his middle and high school years. He continued pursuing the craft of music in college and graduate school, earning a Master’s degree in percussion performance from the University of Redlands and two Bachelor’s degrees—in percussion performance and computational mathematics—from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Julian’s transition from performance to backstage work began when he joined the Stage Services team at the Interlochen Arts Camp during the summer of 2019, where he learned how to plan and execute orchestral stage layouts. He returned to Interlochen in 2021 and co-managed the Stage Services team in 2022. Julian subsequently worked as a production tech assistant at the Idyllwild Arts Academy’s summer festival in 2023, serving as the lead stage manager for all summer symphony events. In 2024, he joined the stage crew at the Brevard Music Center and planned the crew’s weekly schedules. From the fall of 2023 until early 2025, Julian was also one of several stagehands employed by the Fort Collins Lincoln Center, preparing performances for the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra, touring Broadway productions, and various other musical, dance, and film presentations.

Julian now plans locations, schedules, stage setups, and equipment transportation for all of the New Mexico Philharmonic’s rehearsals and performances. His thoroughness, adaptability, and attention to musicians’ preferences help give the orchestra the tools it needs to put its best sound forward. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, drawing, and taking walks, and he is a dedicated fan of multiple film and television franchises.
