Laura Steiner

Laura Steiner is a member of the New Mexico Philharmonic and a teacher of violin, viola, and music theory. She plays occasionally with the Santa Fe Symphony, Performance Santa Fe, Chatter, and other New Mexican performing arts organizations, and previously held a position with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra. She has performed solo works with the New Mexico Philharmonic, the Albuquerque Youth Symphony, the Masterworks Festival Philharmonic Orchestra, and the University of Alabama Huxford Symphony Orchestra.

Laura enjoys chamber music and new music, playing both violin and viola in groups with strings, winds, and piano. She is currently pursuing a M.M. in viola performance, string pedagogy, and music theory at the University of New Mexico, where she is a member of New Music New Mexico. She has taught violin and viola students for more than 10 years and music theory courses at UNM for seven semesters. Her principal teachers include Kimberly Fredenburgh, Wendy Richman, Daniel Sweaney, Gabriel Gordon, and Derek Reeves, and she received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Alabama (summa cum laude).
