Before that he was a dentist in the U.S. Army, where he served as the chief of the preventative dental unit. He is a graduate of Marquette Dental School and a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and the International College of Dentistry.

Dr. Lubar’s commitment to and love of dentistry has been demonstrated throughout the years by his activity on behalf of patients and organized dentistry. He has served as the president of the N.M. Dental Association, the Albuquerque District Dental Society, and the Howard Riley Raper Study Club as well as other dental organizations. As President of the N.M. Dental Association, he travelled to all of the state districts to evaluate the dental needs of the communities. In 2009 he was awarded the medal of distinction by the N.M. Dental Association for his service to dentistry and for maintaining the standard by which all future leaders will be judged.

In addition to his dental related activities, he served on the Metropolitan YMCA board for nine years and as its president for three years, president of the Jewish Community Center, president of the Jewish Federation of New Mexico, and the Albuquerque Arts Council.
