The New Mexico Philharmonic welcomes back renowned star violinist Yoonshin Song for a stunning performance of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. Also on the program is a new work for strings by Diné-American composer and Pulitzer Prize winner Raven Chacon. Rounding out the evening is the tortured Brahms Symphony No. 1, a work that took the composer more than 21 years to finalize! Music Director Roberto Minczuk conducts.

The season will start with a bang, featuring Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 1 and the Piano Concerto No. 2 with 2022 Olga Kern International Piano Competition winner, Jonathan Mamora, and celebrating 150 years of the composer’s birth. Throughout the season, Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring are some of the masterpieces we will present. Back by popular demand are Ukrainian pianists Tetiana Shafran and Anna Dmytrenko as well as violinist Yoonshin Song. NMPhil Concertmaster Cármelo de los Santos will perform Saint-Saëns’s Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso in an evening filled with several capriccio works by various composers. The season closes with the amazing Italian violinist Anna Tifu, performing the Khachaturian Violin Concerto. All concerts will take place at Popejoy Hall.
