Eleven-year-old pianist, Anna Yakura, is a student of the New Mexico School of Music where she has been studying with Dr. Tatiana Vetrinskaya. She showed her interest in music since a very early age and started taking piano lessons since she was five-year old. In 2007, Anna participated in the Golden Key Music Festival performing at Carnegie Hall, New York. She gave her debut solo piano recital when she was eight, playing compositions by Bach, Haydn, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Prokofiev. Anna is a 1st Place winner of several piano competitions including Dennis Alexander Piano Competition (2011 and 20013) and State of New Mexico Honors Audition (2011). Her 2012 highlights include performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor with the Symphony Orchestra of Albuquerque. At the end of May 2013, Anna is going to Moscow, Russia, to participate in the prestigious Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation Festival.
Besides music, Anna swims competitively as a member of Charger Aquatics, at Albuquerque Academy. She also likes math and science, as well as reading books and writing stories. Anna Yakura is a fifth grader at Hubert Humphrey Elementary School.
