Idalia Lechuga-Tena
Idalia is the first naturalized woman from México to serve in the New Mexico Legislature in the history of our State. She is fluent in five languages. Her degrees are in economics, political science, and international politics from UNM, with international studies in México; Pamplona, Spain; and Paris, France, and published academic research on immigration.
Idalia is a former International Ambassador to the USA for Global Peace. She actively serves on various boards including the New Mexico Philharmonic, Meals on Wheels of New Mexico, the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation, and Global Give-A-Book.
She is a small-business owner, rancher, artist, violinist, opera aficionado, ballet dancer, and is a 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo. Idalia is married and enjoys spending time with her family and her Chihuahua dog, Tekila.
